Our history
Thirty-six years ago, Dick Van Deelen began a career in adoption that would facilitate the placements of thousands of children. An adoptive father himself, Dick’s heartbeat was to help as many families and children as he could. His motivation? He had experienced the life-changing power of adoption and believed it was a positive answer for women with unplanned pregnancies, families who desired children, and international children living in orphanages.

After beginning his own adoption agency (Adoption Associates, Inc.) in 1991, Dick took an active interest in creating products and services to enhance and facilitate the adoption process for families and agencies who serve them. He taught couples how to network to find a birth mother and those adopting internationally how to integrate their child into their family. He created materials that provide birth moms, adoptees, and adoptive couples with dignity and respect. And soon, he created videos and adoption mementos that help spread the word about the importance of adoption.The seed was planted, and 13 years later, Adoption Accents is a reality.

Our goals
1. develop new products and ways to enhance and support adoption worldwide
2. use all proceeds from adoption accents to further promote adoption
3. equip agencies to increase successful adoptive placements
